My client Mark Esho MBE is a disabled entrepreneur and my first freelance client - we have been working together for the past 4 years. I manage his personal PR and occassional PR campaigns for his other businesses.
Mark's story
Mark contracted poliovirus when he was 5 years old, at a time when it was meant to have been eradicated from the UK. He became paralysed overnight from the neck down - doctors told him he had a 10% chance of survival and that he'd never walk again. He defied the odds by not only surviving, but managing to regain limited mobility.
Monitoring the news
In June 2022 I saw the news that poliovirus had been found in London sewers. I knew that a media frenzy was likely to ensue, so I pitched Mark's story proactively to the national news as he is a poliovirus survivor.
The results
Mark was interviewed for an exclusive with the Daily Mirror and had the opportunity to share his story with thousands of people.
