Managing a powerful PR awareness campaign
Updated: Apr 22
Pancreatic Cancer Action is one of the UK's leading pancreatic cancer charities. They focus on improving survival rates through early diagnosis. Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers - symptoms are incredibly ambiguous and often it's caught too late for life-saving surgery.
The project brief
They approached me to manage the PR for a month-long awareness campaign to improve awareness rates of pancreatic cancer in Wales. 5-year survival rates in areas of rural Wales in particular were frighteningly low.
Using powerful case studies
I worked with a supporter of the charity called Beth who lost her father Rob to pancreatic cancer in a heartbreakingly short time frame. It was just 11 days from Rob's diagnosis until he died at home.
The results
I secured them seven pieces of media coverage in national, regional and local news publications, radio stations and podcasts with a total circulation of over 200,000. Key pieces of news coverage included BBC Radio Wales, Wales Online and the Daily Mirror.
